The Indy 500 in 1992 was the 76th edition of the race and was held on May 24, 1992, at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. It was won by Al Unser Jr., driving for Galles Racing. Unser Jr. started from pole position and led 43 laps to win his first Indianapolis 500. Scott Goodyear finished second, followed by Raúl Boesel in third. The race featured 15 lead changes among 10 drivers and was run at an average speed of 134.47 mph. It was also notable as the first Indy 500 to be broadcast live on television in Japan.
